This past week Ashley and I sat down with a couple of our friends who we took to see the LEGO movie. Check out our podcast below! And don’t forget to subscribe!
Scooter’s Bricks gives this movie a 5 Brick rating! Everything was awesome!
Ever since the first trailer aired I’ve been waiting for this movie to come out! So Friday after a long day of working I bought my ticket, over priced soda, and bucket of popcorn; then sat down to enjoy 1 hour and 40 minutes of 3D Lego fun!
First off if you see this movie in theaters, you must see the 3D version. The 3D animation was some of the best I’ve seen, at certain points I actually found myself wanting to cover my face from the giant Lego bricks coming at me!
You’re immediately introduced to Lord Business (voice by Will Ferrell) and Vitruvius (voiced by Morgan Freeman). Vitruvius is absolutely hilarious in this movie and I love love love Morgan Freeman as him. This movie was very well cast. Chris Pratt (from Parks and Recreation) voices Emmet Brickowoski. Liam Neeson voices Bad Cop/Good Cop and has you laughing from the first time you see him to the very end! Wyldstyle is voice by the lovely Elizabeth Banks (Hunger Games) and Will Arnett (Arrested Development) provides the voice for Wyldstyle’s not so committed boyfriend. Alison Brie (Scream 4, Community) voices Unikitty, hands down Unikitty was my favorite character in the movie! I brought along a friend, who isn’t really into Lego but is into animated movies; by the end of the movie she had me taking her to Wal-Mart to see if they had set 70803 (Cloud Cuckoo Palace) in stock! Sadly our Wal-Mart was sold out, which isn’t too surprising to me since that is the only set Unikitty comes in. The Star Wars cameos from Billy Dee Williams voicing Lando and Anthony Daniels voicing 3CPO surprised me. While I expected to see characters from licensed sets, I didn’t expect any of the actors who’ve portrayed those characters to be voicing them in this movie. Sadly Harrison Ford didn’t voice Han Solo, but Keith Ferguson did a great job voicing that character.
One fun thing that stuck out to me was when the master builders see pieces they see the piece number as well. The movie doesn’t really have any boring parts, I was laughing the whole time. It’s definetly one for the whole family as it’s very kid oriented but provides laughs for adults as well. This movie will have kids wanting to go home and build with their Lego collections and their parents joining them! I’m not going to ruin the ending, but I will say the message at the end is a good one. I highly recommend this movie, AND I recommend afterwards going out and buying a set or two. If you’re near a retailer that has Series 16 characters you might want to pick up a few of those too.
After you’ve seen it let us know what you think!
